To celebrate 70 years of the Stratocaster®—the platinum anniversary of the world’s greatest electric guitar—the Fender Custom Shop introduces the Limited Edition Masterbuilt 70th Anniversary 1954 Stratocaster®. Brought to life by our world-renowned Masterbuilders, its two-piece select ash body (with offset seam on the treble side) resonates with singing highs, sweet midrange and tight lows, and wears a gorgeous Wide Fade Two-Color Sunburst Deluxe Closet Classic lacquer finish.The stunning one-piece 5A Flame maple neck is fashioned with a special 70th anniversary Soft “V” profile based on an incredible Strat® neck from July 1954. This is topped with vintage compoundradius fingerboard (7.25” to 9.5”), 21 medium vintage (47095) frets and a 1.625” bone nut. A trio of Custom Shop Hand-Wound ’54 Strat® pickups deliver that classic Strat® tone with clear, bell-like highs, routed through vintage ’54 Strat® wiring with wax paper cap and five-way switching.Other premium features and authentic first-year Strat® appointments include a single-ply white pickguard and serial-number back plate, 1954-style ABS white pickup covers and control knobs, Custom Shop vintage synchronized tremolo bridge, vintage-style tuners, disc string tree, special 70th Anniversary Stratocaster® neck plate, deluxe embroidered hardshell case, special “case candy” kit and certificate of authenticity.

A standout classic, the ’68 Paisley instruments feature a bold, psychedelic-inspired aesthetic straight from the “flower power” era. The ’68 Paisley Strat Relic is an homage to these storied instruments, combining vintage-cool style with modern playability and tone. The two-piece alder body wears a Relic lacquer finish that will wear in a distinctly personal way. The lightly tinted riftsawn maple neck sports a urethane finish and medium-tinted lacquer headstock face—just like the originals. The “C”-shaped profile is comfortable for any playing style and the 9.5”-radius round-lam maple fingerboard hosts 21 6105 frets. The 3-ply, paisley covered parchment pickguard hosts a trio of hand-wound single-coil pickups for authentic Fender tone: a Texas Special bridge pickup, RWRP Fat ‘50’s middle pickup to reduce hum and a ’69 neck pickup, all tied together with Vintage Modified #2 wiring.

New for 2023, the Fender Custom Shop introduces the Limited ’59 Precision Bass Special Relic. With a Precision Bass body and a thin, comfortable Jazz Bass® neck, a combination Fender offered in the early 1970s—it’s a truly functional hybrid of the best of both bass worlds. Here, the two-piece body is fashioned from select ash, while the quartersawn maple neck has a ’60s-style “U” profile.

That great combo applies under the hood too, with a punchy Custom Shop hand-wound ’57 Precision Bass middle pickup, a snarling hand-wound Vintage Jazz Bass bridge pickup, and independent volume controls for blending to perfect personal preference. This bass wears beautifully battered Natural Blonde, Chocolate Three-Color Sunburst, and Aged Black Relic lacquer finishes that impart an authentically worn-in look in which spidery finish checking and each ding, dent and scar from bridge to headstock tell a story of years of action in clubs and bars.

Other premium features include a flat-lam maple fingerboard with a 7.25” radius, 20 medium jumbo (6105) frets and a bone nut; volume-volume-tone wiring; gold anodized aluminum pickguard; Custom Shop HiMass RSD (Research Special Design) bridge for massive sound and sustain, vintage-style tuners, disc string tree, deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.

New for 2023, the Fender Custom Shop introduces the ’64 Precision Bass Relic. Nearly 70 years after its groundbreaking (and ground shaking) predecessor, the instrument is loaded with looks, sound and vibe that expertly evoke the Precision Bass during one of music’s most monumental years.

Its two-piece select alder body wears a Relic lacquer finish in Bleached Three-Color Sunburst, Aged Vintage White and Aged Lake Placid Blue. From the finish checking that covers the body to every last ding, dent and scar from bridge to headstock, this treatment imparts authentically worn-in look and feel and tells a story of a bass that has experienced many years of regular use in clubs and bars.

The quartersawn maple neck has a classic ’60s-style Oval “C” profile, topped by a 7.25”-radius round-lam rosewood fingerboard with 20 medium jumbo (6150) frets and a bone nut. The bass’s single Custom Shop hand-wound ’62 Precision Bass split-coil pickup is wound to period-correct specs that deliver warm lows and punchy midrange.
