New for 2023, the Fender Custom Shop introduces the Limited ’59 Precision Bass Special Relic. With a Precision Bass body and a thin, comfortable Jazz Bass® neck, a combination Fender offered in the early 1970s—it’s a truly functional hybrid of the best of both bass worlds. Here, the two-piece body is fashioned from select ash, while the quartersawn maple neck has a ’60s-style “U” profile.
That great combo applies under the hood too, with a punchy Custom Shop hand-wound ’57 Precision Bass middle pickup, a snarling hand-wound Vintage Jazz Bass bridge pickup, and independent volume controls for blending to perfect personal preference. This bass wears beautifully battered Natural Blonde, Chocolate Three-Color Sunburst, and Aged Black Relic lacquer finishes that impart an authentically worn-in look in which spidery finish checking and each ding, dent and scar from bridge to headstock tell a story of years of action in clubs and bars.
Other premium features include a flat-lam maple fingerboard with a 7.25” radius, 20 medium jumbo (6105) frets and a bone nut; volume-volume-tone wiring; gold anodized aluminum pickguard; Custom Shop HiMass RSD (Research Special Design) bridge for massive sound and sustain, vintage-style tuners, disc string tree, deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.

While Martin has previously produced a slightly oversized instrument in the form of the D-45S Authentic 1936 inspired by an instrument from the C.F. Martin Museum Collection, this Super Dreadnought (The Super D) is now the largest body size in Martin’s product line. It has an internal air volume approximately twenty percent greater than the standard Dreadnought, which effectively boosts the bass output while maintaining accurate mid and treble frequencies. It also includes a new proprietary bracing pattern to maximize tone and volume.
The Super D consistently tests near 12dB above the standard Dreadnought, making the volume gain all the more impactful. The Super D can achieve an extended dynamic range with more volume and with less effort than any other instrument bearing the C.F. Martin logo. The outward appearance is proportional and remains true to the legendary Dreadnought shape. Standard scale length and standard depth allow this special new design to be easily played by artists of all skill levels and across a multitude of music genres.

The Collings D1 Traditional Adirondack is a vintage-inspired pre-war style acoustic with superb tonal qualities. The secret to its traditional sound mainly come from the different bracing pattern and the tonewood choice. Another key factor is the Ultra Thin finish which lets the guitar breathe with an organic warmth. Collings guitars are some of the highest quality you can find and the levels of craft presented in the D1 Traditional Adirondack are second to none.
Features We Love:
Dreadnought Body Shape
The Dreadnought body creates a rich tone with plenty of depth, clarity and character. The larger body also makes it great for strumming, giving a consistent volume and even tone without impacting your dynamic range.
Tonewood Combination
The tonewoods used on this model gives it a very traditional sound. The Adirondack spruce on top and Honduran mahogany back and sides create a crisp tone with a good degree of attack. There is also a warmth and beautiful balance plus plenty of projection!
Hand Voiced
Each guitar by Collings has a hand-selected top that has been picked for it's density and rigidity. It's then graduated down to the desired thickness to achieve premium tonal potential.
Highlights:
- Dreadnought body shape gives great projection and tonal clarity
- Tonewoods and bracing give it a very traditional and familiar sound
- Hand selected top woods ensure these guitars are as close to perfection as possible

‘OM’ stands for “Orchestra Model,” but 80 years after this body shape was first designed it has become the most popular 14-fret model with fingerstyle guitar soloists who choose to play on steel strings. Yet flatpickers also find it appealing, and when the graceful cutaway is added these OMs are often used by lead players who routinely explore all 20 frets much as they would on an electric guitar. The compact shape makes the Collings OM equally easy to handle onstage or when sitting on the couch, and the relatively shallow body – barely over 4 inches deep – results in a balanced tone and immediate response.

The Famous Fifties Jumbo, a vintage vibe and feel from the era that produced some of the most prized Gibson acoustic instruments ever.
Before the broad acceptance of electric guitars, the battle for volume was a matter of who could make the biggest bodied acoustic. Gibson were one of the most prominent brands in this battle and returned to the competition in 1937 with the SJ-200. Not only was this guitar "Super-Jumbo" it was clad in elegant cowboy bling, which made it a mainstay of any serious aspiring country star.
This new Custom Shop 1957 SJ-200 presents details such as hand selected woods, headstock stinger, and Gibson's Thermally Aged top to encapsulate the full vintage feeling.
Features We Love:
Super-Jumbo Body
If you're looking for volume from your guitar, look no further. The SJ-200 was designed to produce roaring volume while playing. With all that extra wood there is plenty more space for the sound to reverberate, producing a big bold sound that is unobtainable on smaller bodied guitars.
Headstock Stinger
The headstock stinger is an interesting detail that adds to the flair of this guitar. The back of the headstock is painted black and comes to a point facing up the back of the neck. Not the most prominent feature of this guitar but it'll certainly be a talking point when noticed.
Highlights:
- Super-Jumbo body capable of producing roaring volume
- Beautiful looking guitar with hidden details
- Custom Shop recreation of a guitar from an era that produced some of the most prized Gibson acoustics
